I apologize for getting people excited to see a Mt. Meru. I was not paying 100% attention to my post and realize that i had the wrong "Mt." and the wrong country altogether. I'll chalk it up to the fact that i was reading about Mt. Meru Jacksons earlier in the day. I also have a Machakos...
I'm not new to chameleons or to this forum, but i have been away for a looong time. I am a new owner of a Mt. Meru locale Jackson's. I have a couple of other cooler weather chams but i can sympathize with Kracker. I live on the east coast and it is very hot here in summer, even at night. I...
Well - after 12 years of collecting and raising reptiles - I'm done. Been fun. Found this forum a few years ago and it was the first forum that I ever joined and the only one that kept me interested enough to come back. Over the years I've owned Veileds, Fischer's, Panthers, Carpets, Melleri...
Big Nosey Be - still for sale - Melleri sold
Sorry for the confusion. i was looking to re-home a CB Melleri (sex unknown) and a CB Nosey Be (Male). The Melleri is sold but buyer for Nosey Be fell thru so he is still available.
As i originally posted - he is very large and stocky -...
Need to sell two of my chams that need slightly special care but are great specimens. I need to downsize (this is just part 1) and I have no time these days to take care of everything that I own (reptile and non-reptile). I live in Northern Virginia and would prefer not to ship:
Cham #1...

they all look great! The top is a rescue? Looks pretty good except for a few rub marks. The second one is your fluxlizard one - looks a lot like mine from the same group! where did crabman come from? looks like he still has his rostral horn? all of them look really great - thanks...
sounds like it could work. if you are putting this outside, then you don't need light fixtures for the top - right? Unless you are trying to add heat. Search the forum for other tips on building outdoor enclosures - but you will need to make sure that it is anchored down and can't blow over...
agreed - no need to bake your branches. get your branches anywhere you want and just wash them quickly with a little soap. depending on what type cham you are getting - you may want to buy a 24x24x48 cage. adult panther and adult veiled will likely need 24x24x48.
Chris is great - but Cain is Duke of montanes! Pay attention when he speaks about montane basking temps! yours sound good. everyone will tell you that that they like it cool, which is true - but you'll find them in your warm spot every morning and after chow time.
sounds good. I have had two nosey be's myself over the years, and the males can be pretty awesome. i have one now. i will say that one of my nosey be's ended up with metabolic bone disease (mbd). Only cham i've ever owned that had that happen. so make sure to dust your crickets with calcium...
They really aren't that hard. Do some reading. You can do a search thru this forum or you can just Google "Chameleon Care Sheet" and you'll find a lot of information. I recall the site FLChams having a good, no-nonsense care sheet. At the very basic, get a screen cage, put at least a 60 watt...
misting does two things - adds some humidity to your enclosure and provides water droplets for your cham to drink. you can mist with a misting system (like a mistking which a lot of people use) or you can mist with a simple spray bottle. The advantage of a misting system is that you can put it...
