Health insurance for exotics?

Dose anyone know of a insurance co. that covers exotics (chams) and
operates in Maryland?

I found several that cover the usual, dogs and cats, but nothing for exotics.

I was thinking about insurance as well. Taking the boys in one per month currently because each visit is over $300. These guys can get very expensive. This month George was $350 and next month when we take Monty it will likely be more because he will need x rays in addition to the blood work. Insurance is sounding pretty good right now.

I know, I have spent enough $$ on vets in the past 2 months, I could have
bought a pair of pedigree panthers

Someone at the vet's office just told me VPI is the only one that covers exotics.
Need to call them for info.

There was one that isn't really insurance, but covers 1/4 (1/2?) of every bill. Let me to see if I can find it. Also, make sure your vet accepts the insurance you are looking into. None of the vets near me that take exotics accepted VPI so I was out of luck :/

Edit: here is my thread and it's in there

I'm pretty sure ASPCA insurance can do reptile coverage as well. Their dog and cat plans are pretty good so I'd check with them too.

Most vets don't have a problem or preference for pet insurance because it's all done through the client for payment and reimbursement. Vets just sign off on the forms for claims. The client pays up front and then is reimbursed by the insurance policy once the claim is submitted. So it's a bit different from human health insurance. It's good to know that.
