Hi everyone,
I think it would be very useful to get together a large data pool of weights for different chameleon species. What I picture is being able to put all the data for a particular species into a graph that shows the weight trend for males and females of that species relative to their body length. Theres obviously going to be variation around such a trend but with a large enough data pool for a particular species, you can get a fairly good idea of what a good average weight at a particular size would be.
If everyone who has the ability to get weight data for their chameleons could post the information, maybe I could try to put it together into a useful format of some sort. I also am planning on posting a similar request on the E-Zine as soon as I finish getting another issue together so hopefully I can get together a pretty good amount of information.
If this is going to work without it being too difficult, I think it would be best not to make this thread chatty about what people may think about the idea but rather if you could just reply with the following information for each individual animal, it should be pretty easy to put all the information together over time:
Species:
Locale (if applicable):
Sex:
Snout to Vent Length:
Weight (in grams):
Additional Comments (ie gravid, just laid eggs, etc.):
