Okay...

Well this is my first blog, so I'll tell about Mel. She is my first pet, and she is unlike most chameleons in the way that she is too happy to just chill on my shoulder/neck. She also doesn't get too excited when I put my hand in her cage and pick her up (crawl on my hand).

She's about 5 months old, and I got her from Turtle Crossing at the Central PA Reptile Expo. She enjoys chewing on pothos, chasing crickets, basking under the lamp, and short walks on the vine.

I'm hoping to breed her in the next 5 or 6 months and have mini-Mels walking around.

She has one other roommate (though not in the same cage) a milk snake named Crone. They never see each other because the snake just hides in it's, well, hide.

Her diet consists of crickets, mealworms, and a waxworm every day or every other day. I haven't been keeping up on the dustings, which I would be doing once or twice a week. I use ReptiCal dust and and also add reptisafe to the water. I just bought 1000 crickets to try to breed and replenish, plus 100 dubias to grow into a large colony coming tomorrow.

As far as the cage, it's 24"Wx12"Dx26"H. I have a pump sprayer (with dripper attachment) I bought from SuperPets. (I LOVE IT!) I just pump it 3-5 times, lock down the handle, and walk away to let her drink up. I have a 60watt bulb and a ReptiSun 5.0 for light. There's one ficus benjamina, though there was a pothos, but the leaves were ate up so much I have to regrow it.

I guess that's it for this post. More to come as more happens.
