I'm starting a blog for my new (and first) Chameleon (Max). but befor we get to far I wanted to give a abit of back story and info about myself and explain why Max is "the Road Lizard".
So, about me. I'm a 28 year old heavy equipment operator for a enviromental costruction company, I've been working in enviromental constuction for just over 10 years. I work coast to coast, most projects are 2-6 months (I'd say a average being 3-4 months). As you can see due to my field of work I move alot.
Long story short I've also always liked reptiles, in my early teens I had a green iguana and while researching him I fell in love with chameleons, I've wanted one ever since.
years past and due to my traveling I had to give the iguana up (his name was stanly). and for years I have not keeped any lizards, but a few months back all that changed.... after catching 2 local lizards on my last job (Ca alligator lizard and a western fence lizard) it resparked my intrest in herps, lizards in general and chameleons in particular.
I was lucky enough to find these forums, which has been a great source of info and also where I found a breeder who was near where I was working at the time (lancecham in socal) after chating with him alot and reading the forums I decided to get a male ambilobe from him.
Now I know many of you are thinking NOWAY. with as much as he travels there's no way he can keep a cham. you maybe right, and thats part of the reason for the blog. I am going to try to post each trip and how he does, if it turns out that I can't keep him I'll do my best to find him a good home. but so far things seem to be going well and I'm going to do my best to make traveling and hotel life as easy as I can on him. so far we've made one trip. SoCal to east texas (1500 miles and about 3 days) and once I let him out of his "travel" cage and free range my back seat, he seemed to be happy, but thats for another blog.
Well sorry for the long intro, but I wanted people to know why Max is a bi-coastal chameleon. hopefully we can all learn something from these blogs ( I welcome feedback and constuctive criticism)
