How to take car of a Flapneck chameleon!

I feel like not alot of people own flapnecks, their super low maintenance for a cham i really recommend them. Their not a large breed so they dont eat as much as other chams. People tried to tell me to feed it 18 or 15 crickets a day (absolutely not) dont listen to people tryin to tell you that. Ill break this down into a few sections to make it easy! 1.water 2.food 3.lighting 4.caging

1. watering!___________________________

Pretty simple, spray their cage 1 to 3 times a day for anywhere from 20 seconds to 2 minutes. i usually wait an hour after i turn his light on. have water drip onto their plants (big dripper or i use a dixie cup with a hole) 2 - 5 times a day.

2. Food_______________________________

Flapnecks do not need alot of food, 3 - 6 crickets a day (possibly 1 or 2 more) as babies they eat every day but once around 7 months to a year they will only need to eat every other day. I usually put 4 free roams crickets and if he eats them all ill put 1- 3 more in. if he doesnt eat them all dont worry he will eat the remaining the next day. They also love worms i recommend super worms and meal worms. give him 1 - 3 a day as will with crickets. (can give worms every day) calcium dust every feed and gutload with bug burger or something good.

3. Lighting_____________________________

Flapnecks do not need temperatures as hot as veilds and panthers.

-Day heat light-
they are fine with 85 degrees. ive noticed mine does not like the 95 or above temp. he barely basks as a matter of fact. i do have a spot at at around 90 or more but he does not use that spot very much. He enjoys the 85ish. I used a 50 wat baksing bulb for awhile but just upgraded to a 100 wat for more surface area of his cage. (either are fine)

-UVB bulb-
i use a zoo med reptisun and have it on anywhere from 10-12 hours a day. i try to do 9:30 am to 8:30 pm. you can fluctuate a little with out stressing them dont worry about an extra or less hour or 2 sometimes

-Night light-
If you can, a ceramic bulb is good because it has no light but also a 50 wat night time bulb is fine. keep it round 65-75 degrees for the spot. usually my cham just passes out where ever he is when i turn the light off so i put the bulb a little above him or to the side depending how close to the top of the cage he is, once again you can do what ever its never bothered him where ever i put it.

4. caging______________________________
Really simple they will only need one cage because they do not get that big. a 16 x 16 x 20,30, or 36 will work. they like the highest point so put a ficus in there and twigs for them to climb.

Any questions ask! i havnt found much help with flapnecks. their small and clean, i really think their great and easy to deal with. probably lowest maintenance chams
