Your preaching to the wrong person Harry

Hi again JJ,

now hold on here just a moment.
my reply to you was based on the thoughts that you made about me.
in otherwords, you accused "me" of being closed minded.
my reply to you was based on that, and that alone.

it had nothing to do with anything "you" stated in the past.
I'm in no way accusing you of being closed minded in any way.

heck, my reply to you had nothing to even do with the product in question.
man, you are having a hard time staying on topic now arn't you.

and, let's face it, I never said I would even buy such a gadget. in fact, I stated I would not.
personaly, I would never use such a product for many reasons not stated sofar.

so stop putting words in my mouth, and get over it already.
oh, wait, not putting words in my mouth doesn't help stop such babyness from beginning in the first place.

let's start over, shall we?.....and let's also stay on topic please. ok?

Harry

On another topic, I have seen two severe cases of MBD with proper lighting, and supplementation. Both cases had a severely vibrating ballast in their UVB fixture. A scientific hypothesis-but that is how the studies start.

good point and to me it makes sense makes sense...

Chams are supposed to communicate with vibration level sound, so its not too far fetched to assume vibration might upset them.

I dont understand the theoretical connection between stress from vibrating light ballasts? and MBD though!

What she was getting at is a vibrating ballast, well vibrates, and maybe the chameleon will stay away from it , because of the vibrations, and get insufficient UV exposure.

it is nothing like a vibrating ballast that will clearly not put out the "right" waves of light...thus poor or no UVB output.

Harry

As far as I know a vibrating ballast will still allow a UV light to emmit proper levels, maybe it will out put in "waves" (bright, dim, bright, dim....)
I think she was referring to the vibrations upsetting the chameleons...

some good points, and I totaly agree.

Harry

Im not sure why no one has mentioned it yet, but I think an arguement like this should be for PMs only. You both prove valid points, and I agree that it is close minded to dismiss it simply because it looks like a volcano. If it does the job and there are no stress reactions, then why not?

Well it seems that this was so obvious that I overlooked it. I assumed a person might notice the animal was avoiding it long before severe MBD set in, especially given that if its avoiding the uv ballast, its avoiding the heat source also, both generally being at the top of the cage.

Yes, I mean, you or I would notice it because we know it is normal behavior for a chameleon to sit up under the lights, but imagine a first time owner who doesn't know that they have to be right up under it.

I wonder how many other cases have been caused by this, if it is a cause that is.

I am thinking with strange lights and ultrasonic vibrations they should not be saying this is good for chameleons...

I've always been 60/40 on zoomeds products, anyone can photoshop a cham sitting on their product and using it. Sometimes i think their motto should be, "Our profit, your uncertainty."
