Zilla Slimline w/ T8 Bulb Do i need reptisun bulb instead?

i just got the zilla 18 inch tropical slimline with fluorescent bulb. Ive done some research on this but they were old, few years ago. Maybe they fixed the problem?. Do i need to ditch the T8 bulb and put in the reptisun?.

Good question, I am wondering the same thing as mine should arrive in the mail any day now. Ive heard if you take the plastic covering off there shouldnt be an issue but dont use the included bulb for more than 6mo. Id love to hear what some more experience keepers have to say though.

yea, very true about the plastic, Im just worried about this bulb i ve read some scary reviews on it, but this was on the old one. Funny how zilla puts this on the market with a plastic over the bulb, dont they know the UV does t go through plastic!

It's less UVB then the reptisun 5.0, I believe it's only 3%. I replaced it with the 5.0 and ya no plastic.

i just returned it, it was like $40 at petco. Got a ficture at homedepot for less than $15 and just got reptisun.
