Zilla slimline tropical fixture

So, I was having a heck of a time finding a fluorescent fixture in my tiny little town that didn't have plugins or switches on the side that sits in the cage. I ended up getting a Zilla Slimline Tropical Fixture online. It came with a clear plastic cover over the light. It is designed for use with UVB bulbs so you'd thing they would pass through the plastic, but should I remove it anyways?

I would remove the plastic shield. UVB won't pass through glass or plastic.

That's what I figured but it didn't make sense that they put a shield on a UVB lift fixture if it blocked UVB rays from passing through...Thank you! As soon as I locate a screw driver small enough to fit the screws it will come off. It's kind of bothersome that they put this plastic on there knowing very well it will need to be removed to be effective, essentially voiding the replacement warranty...
