I bought a 18 inch zilla Tropical 25 T8 florescent lighting fixture. Guy at the pet store said it is equivilant to a 5.0 UVB. So im just checking on here to make sure I was given valid info. Thank you in advance.

So since no one could answer my question or any of the other threads posted on this lighting fixture, I did some research of my own and i found that this lamp emits 25 mircowatts of UVB. The recommended amount for chameleons accord to zoo med laboratories-

" For tropicalspecies, including chameleons and Iguanas, UVB levels of 13 to 30 W/cm2(microwatts per square centimeter) are recommended when lamps are used 10 to 12 hours per day"

Yes, in general tropical = 5-6% UVB; desert = 10-12% UVB

I am not sure about the longevity of the zoomed bulbs
