young panther not eating...

i have had floyd just under a month now and he settled in pretty well, has been eating consistently.

i moved his enclosure 2 days ago to the other end of my room and since then he hasnt eaten a bite... im concerned because youngsters grow so quickly, that hes not getting the nutrients he needs!

i guess the main question is would moving his enclosure to the other end of my room stress him enough to stop him eating? what do i do if his hunger strike continues!?

We need more info to help you. plz fill out the help form it gives an overview of your husbandry. Sorry I couldnt link it for you. That will tell us if your lacking in your husbandry in some aspect. Just moving a cage normally wouldnt cause a drastic change in behavior though. Unless, he can see himself in a mirror or a birdcage is now within his view or another reptile cage like a snake enclosure is now within eyesight. All those would make him stressed and possibly stop eatting. Is he your only herp?

he is my only herp, but i have had a chameleon before and i have done quite alot of research into husbandry, so i shouldnt be far off the mark...

if you could tell me where the help form is i would be more than happy to fill it out! im a bit of a noob on the forum!

When I first got my panther, 3/4 months old, he wasn't eating much.. I was reading at that age they should eat around 10/15 crickets a day.. Never happened or rarely.. Now he's 7/8 months, he's being growing so much, he's healthy and not thin at all, but he never had a huge appetite..
I also noticed that every little change effect him, even put a new plant in the enclosure or changing a bulb.
Why did you move the enclosure? Where was it before and where is now? If you're not noticing anything different in his behaviour I won't worry to much, just keep a close eye on him.

sounds like everything is well set up..i think he's just pissed you moved him, they absolutly hate change...it may take about 2 weeks for him to be back to normal..also have you tried some other feeders than crickets, like a mealworm, hornworm, phoenix worm, dubia roach, waxworm..really anything, and just see if that hepls him forget about the move..

i have tried wax worms, and locusts, but he's not interested! hornworms and roaches are pretty hard to get hold of in the uk.

ok ill just monitor him and see what happens!

thanks for the help guys.

there may be something in that area that he does not like. It does not have to be something live, like a dog or other animal. My chameleons hates my lawnmower. I mean just the sight of it freaks him out. He also gets freaked out over a pink towel (that I no longer use) that I used to wipe up bottom of the cage with.
