Hi all, sorry to join the forum and go straight to the help me section but...
Yesterday i brought a two and a half month old ambilobe chameleon and his a great little fella. Hes been stomping around and has even eaten a locust with a bit of nutrobal on, hes been completely different from how i expected him to be. I thought he would go hide straight away. But i had noticed a problem with his left eye, he does not seem to be able to open it for a long time and when he does open it its never all the way, more 2 thirds of the way. I could not see any swelling or discoloration. i noticed him squeeze the eye like you would if you had something in it, his whole eye went blup like when you run your fingers over a balloon. he was rubbing the eye on a leaf, forcefully. he got some water onto the eye as the leaf was wet from misting.
Today i woke up and his eye would not open at all, i could see the eye moving under the eyelid but the eye hole was completely closed, no pus or anything around it. it did appear to be sunken slightly with a small millimeter of skin sticking out below the eye hole (which i assume was excess skin from the eye skin being shrunk). I read on here that a heavy/mist shower would help so started to do that every 2 hours and it seemed to help. he would open the eye ,bluping it about, and i could see what looked like a blood colour sheet under the eyelid swish over the eye and would get stuck a few times but i did see the iris of the eye a few times. once the eye began to dry he would slowly start to close it again untill it was shut. He was drinking from the water dripping from the leafs and also form the water dripping from his head into his mouth i counted 9 times i saw him what i believed to be drinking. He has eaten 3 locust so far today with calcium on them. He has pooed but he pooed when i was misting him and i did not get a good look before it was consumed by the water
The shop keeper has told me to return him for a refund but i told him to leave him with me for a few days to see if i can get him sorted. i do not want to return him as i assume the shop keeper will kill a animal thats ill and he can not sell.hes so friendly He is walking around his home like a boss and apart from the fact he is slower to move from branch to branch as he cannot see from his left eye his great. He will come over and climb my hand and is not botherd by me going near him at all.
So is there anything else i can do to help him? Anything at all i have not done yet?
some pictures of him
