Yoshi seems to be on a hunger strike!

for the past four days my male fischers hasn't ate anything, but he does drink off the leaves when i mist his cage. i was wondering how you guys feed because it seems like he doesnt want to eat from a cup. i tried hand feeding him but all he did was just look at the worm for like five minutes and no strike. any suggestions? he has ate crickets from cup before and also from my hand but im at a stump right now. should i try some silkworms?

Try leaving the worm on a branch and see if he'll get it. Jann

I tried it a couple times but the worm kept falling off the branch or leaves. but ill try it again. could it be because i have the cup at the bottom of my plants? im gonna try and zip tie it higher into the plant see if that helps!

Has anything changed?
Are you sure its a male?
Is he pooping?
Do you have a substrate in the cage?

i've had him for three weeks now and he was eating, the last time he ate was last thursday.

I havent changed anything.

The owner of the place i got him had told me that it was a male. the female fischers have shorter horns from what i know.

i just cleaned up his cage and he is pooping i actually found a BIG one on one of the leafs, and it seemed fresh. the white part of it was white with a tiny bit of yellow. but mostly white.

i also zip tied the feeder cup higher into the plant, so hope fully he can move into it better.

the weather has gotten cold but i have the basking lamp on so that shouldnt be a problem.

right now humidity is at 60%. when i misted earlier it went up about 70%, temp is at 76*.

NO substrate. i did have a substrate the first week but as i read up here in the forum i went ahead and vaccumed it up and now i have paper towels.

leaving a feeding cup below the basing lamp is a good idea... they will warm up under the lamp and this will make the body proccess the food already in the body.... making them hungy again. While sitting warming up and seeing food below they will remembe how good worms or crickets taste. It is a cycle...

What is the temperature in the basking area?

Does he sleep during the day?

today when i got home from work there was another poop on one of the leafs. does that mean he is eating? or is it from what he has ate last week?

If he's pooping he has to be eating.

Thats what i thought but there is still the same amount of worms in his cup. his poop is big too and from what i think it looks healthy. not runny, or different color. the white part is actually white with a tiny dot of yellowish. he doesnt look weak nor has he lost weight. He's actually very active, moving all over his cage.

I have noticed that he is very active at night. Being diurnal, isnt he supposed to be asleep? could it be the "infrared" basking light (which is bright red) keeping him up?

Unless the room gets below 62F at night you shouldn't need heat at night.

the chameleon should not wake up during the night.
The room should be dark dark dark. They will wake up at a hint of light.
So, yes.. unless the temp drop below that, you will not need a heatlamp at night whatsoever.

12 hours on UVB + Heat lamp
12 hours off of any lamps on the enclosure..

Well I counted the worms in his cup and I'm gonna see when I come home from work if he ate or not.

Do you actually have a basking light in there, or one florescent UVb strip? I don't see a heat bulb. Also, how is the plant planted, and did you clean the plant before placing it in the enclosure? That looks like regular potting soil, is it? There looks like white specs in the soil.

I have a 4 month old panther, but he doesnt like worms nearly as much as the crickets.. so I just give him what he wants. Also, he seems to like hunting a couple round his cage rather than just having them all in the cup for him.
