Yoda's update

For those of you that were checking in, I thought I'd update everyone on Yoda's condition since it's good news.

He ate his first 4 roaches in the last two days by himself. This is the first time he's eaten on his own in a month. He seems to be less depressed, a little more active, and very hungry. I'm keeping him on the probiotic for now, but I'm going to stop hand hydrating for the time being and just check his next fecal.

His salmonella culture was negative, and he's officially clean of parasites!

Yay Yoda!

Awesome to hear he has made such a great recovery! You did everything that a keeper could do to get him back to health, and your dedication and persistence paid off. You own quite a stud male, and its good to know hes in the hands of a top notch keeper. Great job and congratulations Royden.

I couldn't have done it without without the help of my vet, or Catherine (PardalisGirl). I know I give her kuddos all the friggin time, but it's because she deserves it. She's like my chameleon husbandry mentor.

Yoda's not out of the woods for sure yet, but he appears to be off his life support. I'm very happy.

Show us some pics when his last clutch hatches Nic!

Great to hear hes doing so well but your right, with ill chameleons, you dont want to celebrate to early. You know how fast they can go downhill. Yodas future sounds pretty bright. Im so excited for the yoda eggs to hatch out. The eggs are massive, rivaling the size of veiled eggs. I have a feeling some pretty robust little mini yodas are gonna come bustin out of those suckers.

Dooku is happy to hear this too !

That's awesome! Thanks Greg! :)

Yeah Nic, my vet has already informed me that Yoda's kidney's are beginning to shut down in his age. Just a few subtle early signs. He's actually recommened pulling way back in my supplimentation schedule. So I know he won't be around forever, but I'll enjoy him while I have him and hopefully he'll enjoy me..or at least enjoy the sight of my hands holding silkies.

I have 3 clutches. One laid in may of 08, one in December of 07 (this one has 38 eggs!), and one in October of 07. Im questioning the ones laid in October and December. Theyre still white and look perfect but i candled a few in each clutch and cant see veins or anything. Im holding on to them obviously but im not getting my hopes up for them. The clutch laid in early may are the epic boulder eggs. I didnt even mess with them becuase im pretty certain theyre good. They're about twice the size of the other clutches. That clutch is 26 eggs strong.

Glad to know that Yoda's feeling better and eating on his own. For the past two months I went through coccidia with my little guy but he's checking clean now too. That's a very happy feeling. I will be keeping good thoughts for Yoda to have a full recovery. He's one gorgeous animal! Jann
