Hi, I bought a 2 year old, female Yemen/Veiled Chameleon from a couple who were moving house about a month back. After examining her, I have found several potential health issues.
The first issue noticed was that the skin on her right eye seems to be a lot lighter than the skin around her left eye. Her right eye was also completely covered in a gunky substance.
I applied reptile eye ointment to the eye which seems to have no effect. I looked up this problem and found out that the most likely causes were dirt in the eye or dehydration.
I sat in the bathroom with the shower running as hot as possible to create a sauna like environment and sprayed warm water into her vivarium frequently. This seems to have almost completely removed the gunky substance from the eye however the skin is still lighter than it should be.
The eye seems to have gotten better recently however she keeps rubbing both of her eyes on my hand and on her viv. During and temporarily after the rubbing, a red layer covers her eye but retracts back to normal after a while.
Here's an image of her right eye (sorry about the quality);
Here's a image of her left eye;
The second thing I noticed was that she had a black mark on the tip of her nose. It doesn't seem to be uncomfortable and she doesn't react if I touch it. It look like a scab or burn and appears to be a bit swollen. it's firm rather than squishy.
Here's an image of it;
I also found a lump on the side of her front-left foot that has a small black dot in the centre. I think it's a cyst but I'm unsure. Again this is firm and does not seem to be giving her any discomfort and she seems happy enough to let me touch it.
Here's a image of the lump (located near where the foot joins the leg);
Advice please.
