Yemen chameleon not eating and turning black :-(

Right so I go on holiday for two weeks and leave my chameleon in the capable hands of my dad. I come back and get told that Flash (my chameleon) stopped eating about 4 days ago, even though he could usually eat his own body weight in locusts if he had the opportunity to. Also more to my worry, when I go near him to offer him a waxworm or tempt him to my hand he opens his mouth and hisses really loud which is quite scary actually and turns a really really dark colour that is almost black.

He has a perfect basking spot, temperature is always fine and he gets misted 3-5 times a day. Obviously im using a uv lamp for him so I can't see any of that being an issue. I must admit that his enclosure hasn't been cleaned for about 6 weeks and can do with new bark n just general cleaning but I can't see it being too much of an issue.

Now the obvious response to this would be to take him to the vet, but really I wanted to get some of your opinions onto what it may be or what can cause these actions.

Plus if it comes to having to take him to a vet then could anybody recommend a specialist place in the Essex area or east london.

Im hoping its just a phase he's going through (it is a female chameleon but I just refer to her as a he lol)

Cheers guys

Its best to fill out the questionnaire and we'll be able to get a better idea of what it isn't or what it could be.........

First of all I would remove the bark before you end up with an impaction problem.

How old is the chameleon?

You need to start your own thread. Its hard to help two different people with different issues.
