Yawning often...is it normal?

I have a 4 month old female veiled. I have had her for about a week now. She's in a 16x16x30 reptibreeze. For light she is getting a UVB 5.0 and a 40 watt basking bulb. The temps are 80-84 at highest. Her diet right now consists of crickets with calcium dust. I just watched her eat a cricket, crawl onto her basking spot, and then puff up her chest and yawn. Is this normal? She also keeps crawling up on the roof of the enclosure. Possibly stressed or??

Under the basking spot it's definitely normal for them to puff up and darken.

The yawning could be letting out excess heat, but it could also be a sign of an incoming shed. Can you post a pic of your setup?

And her eye started acting irratated after she yawned?? It was fine up until now.

That's something my panther does too. They do shed their eyelids as well as the rest of their bodies. My guy rubs his head and nose on the branches to help loosen the old skin.

So they can shed their eye lids at separate times from the rest of their body?

She's rubbing directly on her eye. I just don't want her to have an eye infection. I'm thinking you may be right.

They also rub to get debris out. Just keep an eye on her, well, eye . . . to make sure it's not anything serious. My girl rubs her eyes all the time, nothing seems to be wrong her eyes. By all the time, I mean every couple days.

That's what she has been doing. She was doing it a couple days ago to. Won't there be puss or swelling if it's infected?
