Sorry for this subject being what it is, but it was shocking!

I've had a senegal for just about two months now, and while I haven't made too many posts, things seem to be going well.

I started with crickets, but have gone with superworms, as they are easier for me to make sure I see the cham eating, and they seem to go over well. I do want to get some more crickets to keep things interesting, and maybe some other stuff in the future. I picked up some repcal suppliments and the reptivite, and have been dusting the worms with the non-D3 and the vitamin for almost a month, basically every feeding. I have been feeding about 3 very good size superworms a day, and leaving a day or two for fasting, or sometimes just one worm, etc.

I'm wonder if I am overfeeding? Maybe this is just the first time I noticed something like this, or it was abnormal. I had noticed (to my relief) that the cham seemd to have chosen a spot to deficate in the pot of the pothos, which he otherwise doesn't seem to vist, at least that low. At this point, it could use to be cleaned out, and I'm wondering if they are sensitive to that. I had seen the cham down there once before, but never actually saw the act. I've only seen fresh ones appear.

Well, I was really worried today because I looked at the cage and could not find the cham, at least not in the normal places I'm used to looking. I looked over in the pothos, everywhere. Then, I noticed he was down in the corner, very close to the floor, behind a fake plant that is sorta just there because we had it initially. Very dark brown, almost black maybe! About the time I noticed, though, he started to climb through the fake plant with a purpose, and back up his money tree, turning green immediately. This worried me, as I wondered if he was becoming distraught, as I'd heard can sometimes happen with a wild-caught after the adjustment wears off, and they get bored of being caged.

So I got some lunch, and came back. He was up in his basking spot, where he had been earlier in the morning. I ate for awhile, and sometime in the short amount of time that I stopped paying attention, he disappeared again! I mean, quick! (for him!). So I looked and again, he was behind that fake plant, very dark. It seemed like he was looking out of the screen, and I was feeling pretty worried. I watched for a bit, and then I noticed a bit of white start to poke out from his rear! Amazed, I watched as it turned out to be the biggest defication I could imagine a chameleon of that size making! It seemed to come out smoothly, but I'll be honest, it made me cringe! As soon as that took place, he immediately climbed right back through the fake plant and up the tree, turning green, just as he had before! He's now sitting in the basking spot, and all seems well.

I took some pictures, so don't scroll down if you see this as less than science!

The pothos outhouse. Of course they seem to shrink once they dry out.. but still, they seem what I would think is average size.

He's the man!!

Big poop happens. About all I can suggest is trying to up the intake of fluids. Maybe give your feeders wetter gutload right before they go in the cage? At least occasionally. Try some fruits for the gutload.

But, I don't think this is indicative of any sort of problem.

I think it's an exposure issue. In the first picture the urate is positively glow in the dark white...so, we can expect the fecal matter to be lighter as well.
