Worried

Hello, I just got my new chameleon and I LOVE him:D. But one thing or a couple things concern me. I can hold him and he will turn green. But in the cage he will turn brown or a darker green. I have seen him drink and eat a few times too. I have also given him a few showers he seems to love them because he turns bright green. He only stays at the basking spot I made for him. His temp is 80°F and 68°F at night. I have a Little Dripper for water and a mister for humidity. His humidity is at 50°. My room that I keep him in has a darker light and I'm wondering if that may be why he's turning darker. If anyone can help me on how to turn George his awesome green color please help I really want him to be happy:)

Can you fill out the How to ask for help form? If the forum members knew your husbandry , we can probably help you !

Post a pic of your enclosure. Maybe we can give you some pointers to help him feel happier in his cage.

Sorry about late response.
George is:
Male, not sure age but he 2 to 3 inches not including tail, veiled chameleon, handle him about 1 time a day, crickets dusted with Exo Terra Calcium and multi vitamins. 5 until he eats them all. Use Little Dripper. Poop is brown with white sometimes a little bit of orange.

cage size is 16x16x30.screen cage. 2 lights: 1 - 100 w. Repti Basking Spot Lamp, 1 - Reptisun 5.0 UVB 13 watt tropical mini compact florescent.

Think we might have it figured out. Our thought is that the basking lamp was too hot. We have moved it so that the heat is not as intense. Within about 10 minutes of moving the basking light he ate 5 crickets from a cup. I feel green all over. :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.
I think you need more foliage in there, so he can hide and feel more secure.
Have a look at the enclosure thread at members pictures to give you some ideas.
Take a look at the care sheets too, if you haven't already.
My panther is a George too :)

I agree with Kath! Definitely more plants. They turn darker if they are cold! Can he get close enough to the basking lamp?
