Worried: Rango's head is starting to turn purple/black

Rango is in his second shed of his life and it seems to be taking longer and I've noticed the top of his head is turning purple; it also is a tiny bit on his back. I've read that he can just be doing that because of his shed but I'm still a little concerned. Here he is.

Looks like a thermal burn to me. What is your lighting and caginger setup? How hot is your basking zone?

I agree, looks like a burn. Looks like he also has a burned patch along his spines near his neck. Is your basking light too close to the top of the screen?

Yes, probably a burn. Check the temperature at his basking perch carefully once the light has been on for a while, and let us know. You can treat a burn with Silvadene burn ointment...should be available at any good vet practice. They often have samples as you won't need much of it. What we don't know is how much scarring there will be, as we don't know how deeply the tissue damage goes.

Agreed he could very well lose the top of that Casque.
