wooden viv with glass

hi can a yemen chamaleon be kept in a wooden vivarium with glass on the front (ofc it is still higher rather than longer). just wondering cause a rep shop has a few babies in them and a adult. wondered cause a mesh is not the best for me with the spraying because it would be close to the TV :)

If you need to do 3 sides in plastic, ie: the floor, the back, and the side next to the TV to prevent spray, but the cage is still screen on the top, front, and other two sides, I think everything will be fine. I'd recommend an opaque, non-reflective material. I use white coroply, which is a lightweight sign making plastic. Expanded PVC or Cintra would work as well.

I use a plastic floor, back (to prevent overspray to the wall) and a side to block the chams view of the cham in the cage next to it.

You need at least 2 screen sides. The top and a side or front.

Don't take the pet shops setups as a suggestion. Their goal is not succesful husbandry, but instead temporary confinement until the sale is made.

Try to assess if you can offer what the chameleon's needs are instead of how you can fit the chameleon into your requirements.

ie - Chams need humidity - humidity is bad for electronics - if that's the only spot you have..then essentially, you don't have a spot.

i have searched for the humidity and the only problem is the TV because we have a crested gecko also and his humidity is around the sme needed during the day and its easy to keep it up but make the side near the tv only is fine for mesh

the pet shop one of the chams is atually the owners and is very bright green etc looks very happy thats why i was asking

Sorry amoa, I didn't understand this. Could you repost it and reword it maybe?

As far as the pet shop owner's chameleon:
You need to see an extended study to determine success. If he's had it for years and it's living and thriving, then he's done ok. I could put my own chameleon into a sealed terrarium with no airflow or uvb and he would look great for a month or two. See what I mean?

There is a great glass vs screen debate that goes on here frequently. The truth of the matter is that you can have airflow, and maintain heat levels, and humidity with a screened cage. The more airflow the better.

hi i have a woden viv wit 4 plastic vents an glass sliding doors my 2 cham live in there fine no need to worry just seal the wood so it dont rot i glossed the inside of mine in green an left it 4 ages to dry and siliconed all round it to seal it off its a good viv an cham are happy if you need pics let us know

Depends on your climate, however ventilation, heat regulation and humidity requirements of the species concerned should be met.
