Wooden dowels

hi :) just a quick question - is it ok if i use wooden dowels in my cham's cage as a basking branch/ way to get around the cage?

I have one peice of dowel in Amy's cage - she likes it. I also have those bendable jungle vine things too, as well as a large log/branchy thing and 3 plants. Dowels are easy to wash, plus you can use different thicknesses to excerise their feet - a bit like birds, lol! :D People also use bamboo canes too, plus the rubber covered wire that you can twist and bend to tie things together and make walkways for the cham.

Yes. As suggested above, get a few different diametres, and if possible dont have all of them running exactly horizontally - I think having some on angles/diagonals would be more natural and perhaps good for them.

i was considering doing the same thing but then i asked about bamboo rods. there for the most part straight and also taper a bit. also came in a pack of 5 with all with a little differnt diameters...just an fyi these were found at home depot

That is kind of over thinking the feelings of a chameleon, dont you think? Making them sound like human beings. "perhaps"

if you live in cali you should have no problem finding madrona trees which produce superb cham climbing branches there is a picture of one in my public folder

Dowels are a great addition to your chameleons cage.

Here is an example, with my Ambilobe's cage on the left...

He is getting ready for bed on a dowel, 3/4 of the way up on the left side.
