Wondering if my Rhampholeon Brev is Gravid. Can I check?

I would like to take my 3 brevs out if their enclosure and fix a plant that hasnt been roooted properly. One may or may not be gravid. From what I saw 3 weeks ago she was huge. But within this past week she looks smaller.

Either way, I want to fix the darn plant and see if there's eggs. She's already layed 3 which are doing great. What I need to know is if she is gravid, could I check? I like to keep mine in vermiculite. Sometimes she looks big and other times she looks normal. If I can check I'll take her out first and leave the tank alone so she isn't stressed and can lay properly. If I find out she's gravid, I'm leaving it alone. Havent seen too much digging but she has been looking around for good places.

By the way, I post from my phone a lot so if this is in the wrong thread section I apologize. I tried going to the Rhampholeon forum and it said I didnt have permission. I've been trying to post all week from my phone and now I know why it kept saying "cannot connect to forum".....thats a whole nother topic I'll have to ask about in the right section.. sooner or later.

You can check by palpating the female(massaging her abdomen just before her legs) but you can't always feel eggs, especially if shes not been gravid for long.

By the way the proper nomenclature is Rieppeleon brevicaudatus.

By the way the proper nomenclature is Rieppeleon brevicaudatus.

Actually I believe Rieppeleon was the old nomenclature, the latest taxonomic reclassification of this species designates them as Rhampholean.

As far as your female goes Sarah, if she looked big but doesn't now I can guarantee you that she laid eggs somewhere. It's the only sign I have that my female laid eggs, and it's much less stressful than palpating them. :)

That's what I'm worried about. Don't want to stress the Momma out and have her end up egg bound :( I'll check on her again tomorrow and if she still looks slimmer, I'll take them all out and find those eggs!!!
