Won’t eat anything but crickets

My chameleon is so picky he won’t eat anything but small crickets. He’s almost a year old and he refuses to eats anything else. When he was younger I could get him to eat super worms but not any more. He also rarely eats if they have any calcium or vitamin powder. I don’t think this is very healthy for him but I don’t know what to do. Any ideas?

Give tough love, they will eventually start to give in.
Correct. If you only offer something else’s eventually they will break and eat. Have you tried flying bugs? They usually can’t resist flying critters. Just today, one of my males was kinda eating, but picky.. I grabbed a few house flys that were trapped in my house and he went for them very quickly.

Ive tried some moths from wax worms but most of them die before they mature. He really loved them but every time try and raise the larva they die. I’m scared that if I use bugs I catch the could get him sick.

More then likely you are coating them too much. It literally is a fine dusting you would do on your insects. If he only wants crickets this is not a bad thing as long as they are gutloaded properly. And yes it is absolutely not healthy to do without supplementing them. They have to have plain calcium without D3 lightly dusted on insects to help balance the phosphorus to calcium level of the insect. And then they have to have a good multivitamin that has vitamin A and D3 (repashy calcium plus LOD or reptivite with D3) two times a month say the 1st and the 15th. This is needed for specific things like tongue and eye health along with ensuring they have the D3 they need just in case UVB is off at all.
