Super Chameleon may never be as popular as Star Wars Kid or The Dramatic Chipmunk, but he's still getting a lot of attention these days.

And rightly so!

Can you change colors every few seconds? Are you that awesome?

I thought not.

This is one of those videos you have to watch more than once because you'll sit there and go "no way." However, after several viewings and some heated debate, we've determined this is the real deal.

Without further ado, here's Super Chameleon:

Sad part is that most people are going to see it and think the animal is really changing colors. Cool video, but, as a person who has to say hundreds of times a day at all the educational things I do, it'll just add to the misinformation! Hehe.

pretty sure thats not real, at least i think not

the biggest reason being the color flows it doesnt spot in or anything like it naturally would, but someone spent some time doing it

Hahaha, you guys are already speculating how it isn't real. Stop speculating, of course it's not.

Cool video though.

This is the video btw, just embedded for the lazy.

I saw this yesterday - there was a link to it on one of the UK forums. I felt sorry for the poor chameleon, treating him like that. It's not as bad as the video I saw where a kid was pushing a Jackson's around on a table while making car noises:( Poor chameleons.

LOl, Well it is a cham so I figure its relative to us, clever advertising atleast. Id love to see more Reptiles in Adverts, Especially on TV. If my movie must be interupted by adverts every 1.3 minutes, I want Reptiles in 'em dude! :D

For those still wondering, NO, ITS NOT GENUINE! its done with computer imaging. Very convincing. Ofcourse those of us who keep them know they dont change so uniformly (one color all over) but simply color-up according to mood complete with darker spotting/marking etc.

Interestingly, A cham will 'color up' when walking over a bright bedspread for example, if it changes from one color to another...BUT... they dont match the color, They have their own! Color change has been established to be used primarily for communication.

Color change for camoflage does occure (but not like the vid) but to varying degrees depending on the predator. A closer color match is required for birds, whos color vision is far better than a snake for example.
