I don't blame the person who took care of my chams while I went away - due to a misunderstanding on watering ( the drippers were set to fast, so the water only lasted minuets , not hrs , a freak heat wave, and the fact my chams are so used to me, they shy away from others - so she never really got good looks at them - I brought them all in the house to make it easier ( I thought, it rained alot while I was gone, I should have just left them out in the big f/r together ) - when I came home , almost all my chams were very dehydrated , one died the night I got home, Pit 2 - Olive's 15 mo old " Olive Pit " daughter, then one of the babies died the next day, and I lost Oliver yesterday he never even made it to the vet apt - Olive seems to be doing much better - as are the rest - I am heartbroken, I never go away - and this is why I also lost 3 of my special bugs ( I know , who can miss a bug, but these were not feeders - they were unique sticks )
the only thing that helps me feel better about Oliver's passing is I have one beautiful little boy from he and Olive, and he bred Olive and Sneaks before passing - he was an old guy - over 5 , so it was just to much on him, and the others.

Cheryl this just sucks. I know how you feel, I went to a 4day state graden club meeting, and David call to tell me I lost a cham. I am pretty numb, and I know you must feel that way too. I am really sorry you lost those lovely pits, but it was time for Oliver, so I am glad he went peacefully.

I'm sorry for your losses. Its so difficult to go away when you have animals that count on your care. You can never truly feel like everything is going well and worry constantly. Rest in peace little ones.

thanks everyone - as you can imagine , we are both feeling sad - I just can not believe this happened - we even did practice runs - I packed all the food in little cups so she only had to open them, and put them in - she was to let me know everyday how it was going, but the place we stared at - http://www.cancunresortlv.com/ did not pay their wi-fi bill - even ATT confirmed that - so I could not get any emails from her - and when we were not there, we were in the Mojave desert, or on lake Mead - not much reception there
it was just a chain of freak things, had one or 2 not happened, everything would have been fine- it was just a bunch of bad luck - but that does not make me feel any better about it- losing Oliver has really made me so sad - and Olive, being the tank that she is- lol - was able to hang on until I got home- she and the others are back to normal eating and drinking - I just thank God I think the rest will make a full recovery ~

I am so terribly sorry for your losses, that must be absolutely heartbreaking. I hope your remaining chams make a full recovery, but I can see how that was just a terrible chain of circumstances

Oh Cheryl, I was so saddened to read this thread, I know how much your chams mean to you and it sounds like you did everything possible to prepare them for your travels. I travel a lot for work and this is always a fear I have. I am glad to hear that momma Olive pulled through and your other guys as well.
