Can my baby veil last 3 weeks until i get a UVB at the reptile show? Right now i am running a 60 watt heat light. Was waiting to buy a UVB in about 3 weeks. So far it is eating fine, and everything is fine.

As long as you pinky promise you'll get one at the show!
3 weeks won't hurt, but don't procrastinate it any longer!
And don't forget the calcium supplements. :)

Howdy,

If you are within driving distance of Manhattan Beach, I've got a loaner fixture and an 18" Reptisun 5.0 linear available :).

please don't take offense, but you should have gotten everything set up before you bought your chameleon. They need UVB to simulate daylight. If I were you, I would not wait until a show (three weeks out) and go to your local shop and provide your chameleon with the light it needs.

It would be better if you got it sooner. You could give it an extra dose or two of phos.-free calcium/D3...LIGHTLY dusted on the crickets....but don't forget it can build up in the system....so don't do it too much.

One way you can get away from needing a UV light for three weeks is by exposing the young chameleon to natural light throughout the weeks before buying the UV light, considering the temperature isn't too low in SoCal.

yeah either go buy one now...or expose it to real sun....you can rig a heat light up outside ...but dont take him outside if the temps are below 60.....you should have baught and done all research before purchase

That's really pushing it. Use that "real" sunlight whenever you can, even for a short time each day. Babies are growing fast and will show deficiencies sooner than an adult.

Don't wait for UVB...

Your baby needs the UVB now. Please don't wait. Once MBD starts it will evolve rapidly. Bowed or distorted limbs will never straighten out. Are there no pet stores in your area?

I agree 3 weeks is a bit ling to wait but if you must then make sure natural sunlight is given to him daily as long as warm enough!
