ok somy male ate some of the wild fern that i put in his cage. what it is ,,, is a wild fern that i got in the mountains along a creek.. it was on the side of a tree.. i broke the branch off and thought it would look real cool in the cage.. which it does.. but he ate some.. and i dont know if its ok to eat.. any ideas.. i pulled it out and am keeping a close eye on him...

Try taking a look on line at wild ferns in your area and see what it says about them. Also a local nursery could tell you what it is and if it will hurt him. Hope all is ok.

Laurie's advice is excellent, as per usual. It probably goes without saying at this point, but always double check that everything you put in their cage is completely safe - from the plants to the branches to the products you use to clean, it's cheaper to google it than to have your vet treat the side effects!

Good luck! I also hope it's nothing harmful.

I know that people can eat fiddleheads (new fern shoots) in the spring from some kinds of ferns...but you really need to know the species.
