i live in suburbis where every yard is fetalized....so if i fond moths arounf my drive way lights can i feed them as a summer treat??? what benifets do moths have over crtickets and silkworms...besides exitment?

also im in nj...anyone know what moths are safe to feed and whick ones arent???

all moths are safe to feed, your only problem would be the fertilizers, they are good enrichment feeders and thats about it.

so can i feed the wild moths because my yard is fetalized...also they dont eat at the adult stage so there not eatsing the grass...does that make a diffrence??

yeah i know, some moths eat in their adult stage though, like hawkmoths. my only fear would be them getting fertilizers on them, but then again i dont know, i would say catch one, quarantine in, then feed it.

by quarintine do u mean just keep it for a day or two....that will keep it free of pesticides???

I do feed off wild caught moths (not from urban areas) every summer without issue thus far.

But Your moths could have been in contact (not just eating, but walking on it) with fertalizers or even pestacides in your suburb. Might not be worth the risk.

You might be able to collect pupae, wait for them to hatch out into moths

catch a bunch of moths, feed them sugarwater or banana....if they dont eat it they arent the eating kind, then that may clean out their systems or they may breed for you, if you can look it up and find its host plant. ive attempted this with peackock butterflies but since i dont use pesticides or fertilizer i got tempted and fed them all off lol

I had a Chameleo Jacksonii Xanntholophus and i often found moths, sometimes because of their furry like wings they'll either eject them before ingesting, or heave them out later. All depends.
