wild caught senegal chameleon

The Wild caught Senegals I had the most success with was the batch that I left alone and let eat for a week before treating. Those are the ones that settled in better and almost a year later was able to get to breed. But after they settle in and you know they are eating and drinking get a test done. I also wouldnt be in a hurry to be taking them out of there enclosure and stressing them. Not being a real fancy or rare chameleon I have become very attached and find them to be just as cool if not better them the veiled the drawback is that you usually only get WC.

i know it might seen like i am but am not handling this all happened when i first took him out n though of taking this pictures as soon as possible, and i gotta i greed this species is just as cool as any panther or parson chameleon. He deff a sweet boy and seem to be well tamed , do you recommend anything when it comes down to his husbandry enclosure?
 
I give my wild caughts lots of cover, live plants, and when I get them at first i hydrate that as much as possible it seems to be the trick. Some might disagree but i have even sprayed them with Pedialite for Human babies or sometimes poultry powder electrolytes diluted half strength in water. I have never had one get sick from using them. Others may have some suggestions as well.

thanks so much! deff keep that in mind, what the size of the cage i read some where n seen people putting this animals in really small cages
 
oh okay so maybe a reptibrezzz small side should be wounderful for him? am just asking cause i have this huge large side cages for all my chameleons
 
Just another suggestion for you. But i see you have other chams. Just be careful and dont cross contaminate any items from your wc's cage to your other chams enclosures. I'd use throw away plastic gloves when cleaning cage or handling that cham to keep any parasites from being transported to another chams cage accidentally. You dont want to have to deworm everybody because you got this new cham. Be extra clean and vigilent wash hands after handling if you dont use gloves. And hydrate hydrate hydrate for that first week or so. Good luck...

brown paper bags is how i ship animals. only other way i prefer is in a cloth bag.

If those poo's are still fresh or moist atleast. GET THEM TO A VET NOW!@ That will be one of the worries tackled.

i agree bags are the best. seems like less hard impact happens when they are in a bag rather then in the hard plasic cup.

Thanks for your suggestion's am very aware of the dangerous outcome that this could have on my chameleon's i do take extreme care when it comes down to him thank you tho if you have anymore suggestion please speak your:D

that might be true but once again putting a live animal in a box with two bricks in a brown paper bag isn't such a good idea to me
 
I want to keep up with this animal.

Has he ate yet?
Can you describe his feces?
Have you seen him drink?
 
am watching him drink alot of water right now

I have a trio of gracefuls that are wild caught I treat them just like all my captive bred chams and they do just fine the females are even gravid now I hear there care is very similar to senegals getting them checked for parasites and what not is important tho.

I apologize, I was unaware about the not asking about businesses and breeders on here. I just had a similar experience and wanted to make sure we did not get ours from the same place, since I had a long talk with the place I got mine from about selling me a WC that they claimed was CB. I was hoping they had learned from my situation.

Back to the topic at hand. I have mine in the large reptibreeze (18x18x36) I have been told it is a pretty big cage for mine, and after seeing yours (and other Senegals on this forum) mine is really small by comparison! Yours looks huge compared to mine! My little girl sit comfortably on my fingers, yours looks like it takes up your whole hand. I guess mine has some growing to do.

Working on new picture's and yes since he is wild caught am not sure of his aged but yess he is pretty long, i did read some where that senegal females temp to be lager than males. So it did worry me about his sex but after i saw him pooped, i can say his a male but thanks ! i would keep an update on him:D

i have two of those cage's by the way and i just put one on top of the other one, and made this huge long cage . Works great but thanks i was not so sure about his cage size since i herd they need smaller cages while my other Jackson n vield need a huge cage -__- but once againg thanks for confirming it
