Why Spurs?

A friend of mine has asked why male veiled chameleons have spurs. Does anyone have any idea? Thought I'd throw the question out there in case somebody knows what purpose they serve!

I have an uneducated guess....I was watching one of my males on a date and while clutching her he was stroking her with his spur. Could be an accident.

I wear spurs on my dates and do the same thing!!! So yeah i will agree with this answer lol..
