My panther is eating well and well hydrated moves around seems fine just wondering why he puffes his throat up and keeps his mouth open for a bit. Sorry if it's a dumb question I'm new at this.

When he's basking. I left him alone till u was used to his cage then started to handle him taking him outside in the sun. He loved it put him in a potted plant he was hunting Lil insects. But i watch him from a distance and see him doing that. Thanks

If he's doing it while he's basking it is a reaction to the heat. He's panting like a dog. He's enjoying the sun but overheating a little. That is a good time for a misting session if he will tolerate it.
If he does it when he sees you and he makes a "karate chop hand" then he's being defensive.

Lol no karate chop think he's from Madagascar lol but I notice it when he's basking I have him multiple levels of vines to regulate and have a climist going off every 3 hours but he seems to get scared at first then walk around seeming to enjoying it. I handle him often don't want to over do it still gaining his trust. I appreciate all the info thank you.
