White strand?

A white strand was hanging from my Senegal's vent, could it be a parasite, a strand from a cricket, or sperm plug? It looked like a white piece of very thin thread. I didn't get any pics.

More than likely it is a sperm plug. DO NOT pull on it. It will come out on its own if this is what it is. Without pictures its hard to tell.

Without seeing it, all anyone can do is guess. Sperm plugs are common, so that would seem the most likely answer, but that's just statistics.

If it's not still there and doesn't reappear, I'd say that ups the odds of it being a sperm plug.

this happened to my veiled like 4 days ago.... it was like thin fishing line and almost invisible but had a white buble at the end.... i pulled it and it broke off super easy so idk...seems to be doing just fine and poopin with no problem.

Don't pull "stuff" out of chameleons' butts unless you know what it is and that it won't harm the chameleon to do that.

haha sorry no but from pictures ive seen of sperm plugs they look NOTHING like what mine was. and as for what sperm plugs are i have no clue. i was thinking maybe an overload of unwanted sperm that gets collected and dried untill its passed out?

A sperm plug is semen that is just sort of hanging around and, ultimately, gets dried out and hard.

****NSFW explanation follows, please skip if you are sensitive****

It's as if a man had a wet dream but it all stuck to his penis in a big glob that, of course, stretched out when he stood up...

****End unsafe explanation, it's okay to read now****

However, I've never gotten an explanation of why it sometimes doesn't get expelled and hardens up inside the animal. It doesn't strike me as "normal" (but, I'm a mammal and pretty much all my experience with sperm has been with mammals). Yet, when I've questioned it, I've just been told "sperm is still produced" and I am left confused.

At what kind of age would a Panther start to produce sperm? Mine is about 5 months old and I am sure i saw some of this hanging from him the other day

I've seem sperm plugs on branches from a male panther as young as 5 months before.

I have seen one of my Chams leave a couple of these now. The pattern seems to go like this....

- White stringy slime comes from his "area"
- Something emerges for a second from his area. It's pinky red (I assume it's his manhood?)
- 30 seconds later out comes a turd!

Does this sound normal?

sounds normal, yes.

It is my understanding they expell the smegma on a regular basis to make room for fresh :)
also They often "wipe" the excess smeg on branches.
