Where's the quality exo-terra?

My big flexarium from exoterra has lasted 6.5 months, no wonder they dont come with a warranty.
Cheap plastic crap zipper has fallen apart and is now beyond repair.
(yes, I was warned :))
Poor homer will now go back to my custom built 2x2x4h timbre and screen cage. Big downgrade from the penthouse.

Just dont understand why mass manufactured stuff can't be of better quality.
It was no doubt made in china.
Damn thow away society, nothing is made to last anymore, Unless you make it yourself.

lesson learnt. Dont buy exo-terra flexariums for permanent housing.

i had a alteration shop put new zippers on my tent and got nice ones. throw a couple calls around and see if some one can fix it. without the price of the zipper i think it only ran my 10-20 bucks

I've had my flex for about 6 months now, and it was used before that. I'm always gentle with the zipper and don't yank it. Not saying you do it, but maybe I've had better luck. ;P

I've made one last 7 and a half years and still using it. Though I think it does need to be retired.

Its the society that prefers higher profits margins to quality that should be thrown away. Importation - making the rich richer, and making the poor buy thier CRAP!

The mesh itself is ok, but the zipper is kaput. Im going to try to buy some decent metal zipper stuff and have it machine or hand sewn. He really loves it and it seems like a waste.
Just spent 2 hours setting up his old cage (pic above), im still not happy with it (im fussy) but its got to do for now, I have nothing else remotely suitable.Well see how he goes. He seems ok at the moment, despite being mid shed.

Psssh, 7 & half years? Well done, dont know how your zipper lasted, maybe mine was dodgy to begin with, im sure as heck gentle with it. The whole thing was pre-used (setup once for a day to display boyds) freeby.
On a positive note, now that hes not inside black mesh, his world is much brighter! :)

My zipper still works fine, but the mesh is starting to get weathered and messed up... I was never gentle with it... I was seven or so when I got my first baby chameleon and I used to pull like there was no tomorrow when it would get stuck. I'm probably gonna throw it away when my baby is old enough for his big boy cage.

Was it one of the crazy six foot ones? I'd imagine it would be a pain in the butt to unzip it everytime!

Yep, thats the one, link to pics on the first page of this thread. Real pain to unzip for cleaning, seemed pretty tight over the frame too. Always climbing on a chair to do that.
:)

i dont like mine either. ordered new biggen from diy recently. gonna trash my reptarium as the crickets have found out that they can chew holes in the mesh! little s.o.b's....

I'd send it to you, but mines broke. :) I'm afraid if I put too much pressure on the mesh, it'll just rip.

Yeah mate, its bloody annoying for sure. We'll manage though, he's better off than all those poor veilds in yemen eh, they have to live in trees! :p :D
