Where should plants be placed?

Just curious I recently reviewed a few pictures of some members cages and I saw That their plants were actually kept at the bottom Of the cage and the vines kind of grew upward. But I also see some that start from the top and then the vines go down. Is there really a right or wrong way or is this just a personal preference?

They should be throughout the enclosure. If you do not have a way to mount them higher like we do with dragon ledges then you want to buy taller center piece plants that can sit on the bottom and fill out the cage...

That depends on the plant! If they need more light they should go up higher, if they are shade plants they go lower. Also depends on whether they can take the heat up there or prefer cool temps. You need to research each plant's preferences to have long-term success.

Some "trailing plants" make better climbers (e.g. inch plant, pothos), while others make better hangers (e.g. spider plant, pitcher plant). Aside from that, it's aesthetics and personal preference.

has a pretty good method: start with a center piece plant, then fill in around it.

It is usually recommended to have at least one leafy plant (pothos) hanging up high where the chameleon can actually use it... Where the plant can catch mist and offer more drinking surfaces. Also gives them a spot to get under for security and cover from UVB. Also I prefer the hanging garden cages where the cage floor is completely bare and the plants hang from sides via dragon ledges or some diy method.
