Where does the water go?

Hey guys I was thinking about some how draining the water out threw the bottom of my cage. I have solid wood floors in them. I have no idea where to begin any ideas?

At the low end of your enclosure, install a drain (hole/spout). Underneath your enclosure, place a (plastic) trough for the excess water to collect into (I keep towels under my trough--just in case). Generally speaking, you're better off to avoid areas with hardwood, carpet. etc.. flooring.

Thanks any chance you could post a picture for me? Would help out a lot. The bottom of my cage is flat so the water would just sit and soak into the wood I would need some kind of funneling effect right?

you could use a piece of pliable plexiglass or fiberglass and sort of make a slope to one corner of enclosure, with that corner of the plastic piece cut off to allow drainage? just a thought, it's crossed my mind before

i have been using shower pan liner from Home Depot for drainage. it works great. Check out my new baby cage! thread for pictures of the drainage shelf. It comes in a 5 foot roll and is $6 a foot (5'x1') so 2 feet should get you enough to cover the bottom of the cage. put a $8 drain in the middle and make sure the sides are higher than the middle and the water will drain. You could staple the sides with a staple gun.

I actually lined mine with linoleum flooring, sealed it with liquid nail, and are in the process of making a small hole in the corner to allow for drainage. So far this has worked very well.

I just finished setting up my drainage system. I'm using the LLL Reptile drain pans and followed the instructions from this post.



I simply ran a length of 1/2" PVC between the three trays and then used a T fitting to drain the water to below the table into a 5 gallon bucket.
