i get mine from petco but i think im going to start buying in bulk:)

Buying in bulk from somewhere online?

Jim from Chameleon Company told me that if i buy from Petsmart or Petco to keep them in a container for a few days to gutload them and hydrate them because they don't keep them healthy there.

ever heard of a drug dealer?

now there are bug dealers....shhhh......;)

lol all kiddning aside, it is relatively cheaper to buy in bulk online than it is at petco/petsmart

but you do have one cham and if you can afford it then do it

what jim says still applies to wherever you get crix, you need to gutload them

Ahhh okay. Do you guys keep yours in a big plastic container?

Id also probably use Flukers orange cubes and carrots to gutload. Think thats enough? =D

Petco and Petsmart rob you blind when buying crickets... I just stop by LLL Reptiles whenever I need them, 20 for 1 dollar. Still not as cheap as buying in bulk but when I need them, I buy what I need to feed off the next day. I hate keeping LOTS of crickets for extended periods of time.

I buy them at a local exotic family owned pet shop. Whenever I buy 2 dozen for the week they give me about 50-60 crickets and are very generous. They also sell 1,000 crickets for 20 bucks. I'm very lucky to have the pet shop close buy to me.

I buy 1000 cricktes from mulberryfarms.com
I pay 20 bucks for them all, plus 20 for shipping, done it twice now, and no die offs. they are breeding, growing, and getting good.

I have been ordering a box of 1000 every three weeks for awhile now. I use JB crickets. its $15 total including shipping, thats the best price i have found for me in the midwest.

So you really pay 15 bucks for 1000 crix AND shipping?

Will they ship throughout the country?

You can order them in bulk from Petco. 1000 crickets runs me $32 including shipping.

You should check the "cricket keepers" at any place you buy your crickets. Every Petco I've been to keeps theirs well fed on Fluckers (okay, not a good gutload, but healthy for keeping crickets alive) and water crystals. I know of one "family run" store that feeds their crickets cardboard. So, ask to see, don't just assume.

A question about those places with the really inexpensive prices: are they black crickets or brown? For me, that's an issue. I'm willing to pay more to Petco because they sell me healthy (I've keep them from 1/4 inch to full grown with no die off) brown crickets. I know I could pick up 1000 from LLL (you have to pre-order that) for $24, but they're black. Same deal with the American Cricket Ranch...1000 is $20, but they're black.

**edited to add**
I just checked Premium Crickets and, with shipping, 1000 crickets were about $28....not quite the super cheap price it seemed like at first.

Yep that it what it costs me. When i first ordered from them awhile back, I thought that was the price before shipping. But the price they quote includes shipping. I am not sure if they will ship all over the country or not. I do know that most of the pet stores and bait shops around here use them.
