Here is some inside info for the board - maybe a few more details for the breeders who are getting shorted on crickets right now:
If your cricket farm is not offering bigger than 1/2" crickets - they have the "fungus" that is destroying most cricket farms. Crickets can't grow much past about 4 weeks old with this fungus, and die off. So even if you order 1/2", don't expect them to live long at all. The fungus is harmless to all reptiles - but when a cricket farm gets it - it is so destructive, they need to relocate, and literally start over to rid themselves of this issue. Crazy stuff, and as of right now, there is no fix.
That being said - the cricket farm we are currently using to ship all of our orders does NOT have any single issue with this fungus. We have worked hard to get this relationship going to make sure that we can still provide the healthiest crickets possible. To my knowledge, they are one of maybe 2 or 3 cricket farms in the nation that has managed to avoid it. So - we have ALL sizes, and NO fungus at all. All of our crickets get shipped overnight Fed Ex now (hence the price increase - although I do believe we have some of the best overnight cricket rates by far), and we now ship 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday). You can even do same day ordering if you order early enough (see website for details)
Sort of a plug, but some info for you as well. Honestly - we need all of these cricket farms to get back up and running, so let's hope for the best, as many of our friends in this business own or work at these farms. In the mean time, if you need them, we have them!
