Where did my mommy go?

I have a clutch of veileds hatching out. There are only 3 left to hatch. Anyway, I put them in a clean shoe box with a plastic plant to dry off, shed their vermiculite and absorb the yolk if there is any attached. Well, to my chagrin they are able to reach the top by standing on the leaves which I thought were far enough from the edge. Doug spotted this little buy above our dining room doorway! Not too easy to spot unless you are looking. I wanted to share with you.

Awww! How very cute! That one is obviously an escape artist - you should name that one Houdini!:D You cham room looks amazing!

congrats

Congratulations! And that is a very funny pic of the baby climbing the wall. Who says geckos have all the fun?

Cheers

thought it was a gecko from thumbnail! then i clicked on it. very funny. very nice room too!

That is always one on my biggest issues, getting lots if climbing surface and not letting them escape. Baby veiles are so sweet! :)
We have a dragon named Houdini as he likes to escape.

I see you live in Boca, do you have house geckos living in your home? The reason I ask is that i live in west palm and have them all over my house and when i have had baby chams( panthers/veileds) the nasty geckos try to snatch them up for a free meal if i dont keep lids on there containers. I dont think they have ever got one of mine but Ive seen them eyeing them pretty hard and make attempts. If that little escaper was at my house i dont think it would made it to far on that wall. Just wanted to throw you a warning if you see any around your super cute babies.

Wow! I've never seen a chameleon able to climb like that; would have thought the wall wouldn't give him enough purchase.

Thats a great picture of the mountain climbing baby, i once had a couple of Rudis escapees, found one very quickly near the viv the other i found marching up the stairs, now with two cats and two dogs that is no mean feat :D

hmmm interesting i never heard of this. I guess if my eggs are fertile i need to be careful of this to.

Naomi-that is one sneaky chameleon there:)

Glad that you found the little excapee! :D:D:D I guess being tiny and so light weight he was able to hang on to the wall like that. Too funny!!!!

I've had a couple of escapes like this. My rudis Houdini has climbed the walls, they are textured. And I have had pygmies escape on leaves I thought were far enough from the walls. Those little guys can really stretch! I usually find any of my escapees on the east wall near the window, I think they go toward the sun light. Thank goodness the only other little critters I have in my house are children so I don't have to fear for the chams safety.

The latest escapee I found in the Christmas tree :D I'm going to have to zip the rudis up until the holiday is done.

The walls have the wallpaper on it that you paint. It is very textured. There is lots of purchase for a baby.

I'll take some more pics of my cham room so you can see the whole thing.
