so ive been looking for a while now and come to the conclusion that they are all gonne be expensive. so i was hoping one of my fellow members could point me in the right direction as to where to look for maybe a less expensive one?? suggestions welcome

Well the sun is free, but since you can't keep a pet cham in the sun 24/7 most are 20-30, if you live close to a member and are in a pinch maybe someone might be generous.

haha so far ive been taking full advantage of the sun. but its starting to get colder and colder so its gonna be about time so keep in indoors till it starts warming up again. i thought SoCal weather was supposed to be good year round!!!

about 20$ is the cheapist i've seen. you get use for 6months tho so its really not that bad of a price :D!

yea $20 isnt so bad but when you have to buy the fixture to hold the bulb another $25. if that. i dont wanna buy a zilla slimline cause ive heard horrible things!! but its the only one ive seent hat comes with both for like $26 a compact bulb would be best for me but then i posted a thread any the members just scared me out of it....

Where in So Cal are you? I've gotten very inexpensive fixtures at Reptile Island in Stanton. I bought several repti glo 5.0 bulbs from LLL - they are $11.99 I think. Sometimes they have them on sale for less. Shipping is inexpensive or you could drive there if you are close enough.

I use compact bulbs on some of my set ups. LLL has cheap fixtures for those and I think the bulbs are $20 or less. I think the repti glo 5.0 are $13 or $14?

I've used them for sometime now and no one is blind or dead!!

i only use compacts. they work perfect for me and i've never had problems with them. even when they were haveing issues i used them and never had problems. if thats what works best for you, get it. :) also i have light fixtures but for clairs set up i use a bendy lamp. you can use things you always have or buy them cheaper at lowes, home dept. ect. happy shopping!:D

thanks ill keep all that in mind!

Are you thinking Reptile Island or Reptile Outlet? They are both in Stanton. At Reptile Island the usual guy that works there is super nice and helpful... when he's out it's a crap shoot who they have working there.

but I've always felt I got good over-count on crix and good service. I think their cheapest fixtures were about $16. Nothing fancy but when you need a few it's a good deal.

definaltely reptile island. the one with the tortoises on knott and katella. i go in there every once in a while. when i first got my graceful i took him in cause i knew nothing about him and they told me it was a veiled!!! i know they sell a bunch of veileds and for cheap i just couldnt believe they told me it was one of them when they had like 40 on sale right infront of them!
reptile outlet is where i buy my feeders. i asked for $1 worth of feeders and they gave me like 40 crickets AND they dont tax you for it :)

that is too bad ... I've had good luck with Reptile Island. Reptile Outlet has had good deals on feeders too - it's just always so dark and musty smelling in there ...

yea i dunno so much about reptile outlet they were supposed to move locations a while ago(like the next building over) some1 broke into their shop not to long ago either and last time i walked in it reeked of weed.

next week i will have a uvb meter to test how it compares. i have been using zilla t8 bulbs for about 5 months now on some of my animals with no issues.
