When to buy fruit flies??

I have a clutch of Veiled eggs that have been incubating for almost 6 months, and I am not sure when to buy fruit flies and have them here ready at the house? I have pin head crix from my small breeding project, but would like to have some fruit flies also. I dont want to get them too early, but I dont want them to hatch and then scramble to get them here in a hurry!

Is snail tail the best place to get them? I also have seen them on Joshs frogs.

Thanks in advance, Jeffrey

F Fly's

Just get a breeders kit, or bginners kit and start culturing them yourself. Then when the time comes you'll have a good supply, without having to worry about getting some in a hurry. Baby veils may take a few day after hatching to start eating. Your only at around 180 days right now. So I'd say you still have a little time before the eggs begin to hatch. Quickest number of day for me has been 242 days. My average is 271 days. From my exprience, nine months yield stronger healthy babies.

Hydei's are the bomb.

Hey Jeffery! Hows everything with Vanessa if I remember correctly:D I bought off snail tail when my babies were starting to hatch. The package showed up on time and there were tons of flys in each container. Although I bought 6 cultures and the babies didnt eat one fly:mad: The cultures did there thing for a long time but they were completly useless to me hahahha. I wouldnt go overboard untill you know they will eat them. Good luck with the babies and make sure you take lots of pics when they hatch;)

I think that you must have the only baby pardalis on earth that won't eat fruitflies! Mine always gobbled them up well into the three month age. I am in awe of your tough tiny panthers. I have enjoyed your photos of your tiny cricket eaters a lot.

I would say that Snail Tails is ineed one of the best places to buy fruitflies, and I have tried dozens of companies that always advertised themselves as being the best! And the owner of the site is a nice human that promotes interests in animals well beyond the hobby keeping stage.

Vanessa is doing AWESOME!!!!!!!! She is our sons favorite cham now! He keeps asking when she will turn pick and purple! She is always in a different place in the cage during the day and returns to the same place to sleep each night. She also loves the misting system! Here a pic!
