When did I become such a crazy lady?

When did I become so crazy? I washed plants and baked sticks today, and I don't even have a chameleon yet! I walked around town all day with two sticks sticking out of my bag. I walked around our condos picking up rocks (for the pots so a cham doesn't eat those white things in the soil).

I've gotten some funny looks.

Anyway, I'm having a ton of fun setting up! I have everything but the cage, chameleon, and crickets now.

I fell in love with chameleons when I saw a beautiful, friendly bright green female Jackson's at the petsmart where I was training. I know, they practice poor husbandry, and I won't be purchasing a chameleon from them. But I am grateful for finding out about such a cool pet.

I want to hear your stories of your first chameleon, and how you got into the hobby! I apologize if this is the wrong section for a discussion like this.

Sitting in the drive through picking up some fast food at lunch a grasshopper of the perfect size for my cham landed on the building... i thought "Wow that looks like a great treat" and reached for it before I knew what I was doing...

I stopped myself and got a dirty look.

The other day when we were washing my husband truck I seen a little grasshopper and I said "Man if I could find a female to breed that would be a nice treat for Ringo and Angel!" My husband stared at me and rolled his eyes.

Aw man, it's rare to see a grasshopper here. They were EVERYWHERE where I grew up.

Wait till you find your self cutting up vegitables and putting them in a blender and somone asks, what are you making? and you say Food for my insects !

Just wait! It gets much, MUCH worse. Every dang waking and sleeping moment is consumed by these wonderful critters! I'm always looking to enhance my setup, looking for my next Cham, thinking about catching the stray flying bug, etc... It's taxing, yet very rewarding! Good luck! Set a budget and multiply it tenfold!!

Or worse....grinding up insects in what used to be your favorite coffee grinder because your chameleon needs some bug juice!

How about when the fedex guy knows you by your face, becuase so many bugs get shipped and held for you, that you are there every other week. So instead of waiting in line and signing, he just gives you your boxes?

or when your neighbor asks what reptiles you have because they see your boxes marked live?

Or when your fedex guy for work delivers a box and goes.. its not another one is it? because youve had 6 reptile boxes shipped to you???

yeah i was the same a few weeks ago. collecting sticks and rocks and carting them home on the train. i must have looked like id escaped from a facility or something haha.

I buy squash and mustard greens, neither of which i eat, and my bf looks at me and goes, why did we buy this?

i said to feed the bugs. duh.

they eat healthier than i do.. its a problem
