So we got back from Disney yesterday and my male was really lethargic and now he has this going on. Any ideas? He was healthy and active when we left Wednesday.

I did get him to eat a small/medium dubia a few minutes ago and he's drinking.

I've never had this with my chameleon so maybe someone will chime in with more experience, but it looks like a sperm plug to me. Either that or a prolapse, but I would guess sperm plug. I've seen people say to let their bum rest in some warm water to soften it till it drops off. DON'T PULL AT IT! That is the one thing for either that I've seen, keep it moist and don't pull at it. Hope your guy gets better quickly!

Looks like a sperm plug but not quite dried out. Will it wipe away with a moist cloth? It doesn't look like a typical prolapse.

thanks. He's just very lethargic and seems to be extremely weak. I can get him to drink from his spray bottle and he did eat another small dubia but something is definitely wrong.

If your chameleon is lethargic and weak then there is likely something going on. Please answer the questions in the how to ask for help thread at the top of the health forum so we can see if we can figure it out.

Handling - daily

Feeding - Staple of Dubia, 2 every other day

Supplements - rept-calcium with d3 dust the dubia once/week

Watering - spray bottle several times/day, I see him drinking

Fecal Description - all was normal until this incident

History - we left for vacation on wednesday and when we got home on Sunday he was like this.( the person caring for him is very capable)

Cage Type - Screen cage 24 x 24 x 48

Lighting - 4 bulb T5HO for the plants with a UV bulb, dome style light for heat

Temperature - 75-90 with 2 cage thermometers

Humidity - Humidity around 70-80 done with spraying measured with the gage
Plants - live umbrella tree and pothos

Placement - placed in a room corner away from fans and vents top of cage is about 6.5-7 feet from ground

Location - South Carolina

You need to supplement calcium with NO D3 everyday, calcium with D3 once every two weeks, and reptivite once every 2 weeks. How big are the dubia you are feeding? Generally you should be giving an adult male about 6-10 feeders a day depending on the feeder size. Do you have a bulb that says UVB or UVA? How old is the bulb? I hope I can help with the diagnosis but remember this is just a forum and if he doesn't improve in a day or two you should set up an appointment with an exotic vet.

He's good with the bulb and set-up and all as everything was just great for a long time.

You still need to do calcium no D3 everyday, cal with D3 twice a month and reptivite twice a month or he will OD on so much D3 or get MBD
