What would you recommend for 2nd Cham?

We have had a carpet chameleon for almost 2 months, and he has been doing fine. So we think we can handle a second chameleon, what would you recommend?

At this point, I am not sure we can handle more than 2 chameleons given that we have a lot of other pets.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

If you think you can't handle more than two chameleons, I wouldn't bother getting the second one. If you've only had a carpet for two months, you still have a bit to learn. Try researching a veiled chameleon off raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com or going to https://www.chameleonforums.com/common-mistakes-first-time-20918/ and reading up a bit.

What other pets do you have? Do you have the space? There are many things you should enlighten us about so we know if you can afford/have space for it.

i think you should get something you are interested in but make sure that you know all the guidelines and care for it in order to take care of it right. with you having a carpet you might like panthers and more colorful chams better but i happen to like mountain chams the best, but everyone is different.

good luck deciding and make sure to pick something you will love, but who got a cham and didnt love it in the first place.

I guess it depends on what you like most, what kind of space you have available, where that space is, what temps and humidity you could maintain.....

So many choices!:D

Let's see. We have the space and can afford another chameleon and any care that entails. We have had no problem keeping the carpet between 60-80% humidity. We live in the south bay of la, the temp here is very moderate, so it is easy to maintain temp or humidity by setting it up correctly.

Currently we have 2 greyhounds, 4 cats, 2 parakeets, an African grey parrot, a snake and 50+ tarantulas, including a viv of communal Malaysian trapdoors.

I think we are interested in a more colorful animal, but not too steep of a difficulty.

Howdy,

Sounds like a nice fit for a male Panther :). I'll bet that someone in South Bay Chamleon Keepers group probably has Panthers for sale. If you can stand to wait until the next meeting, you could chat with some of them face-to-face. Can't wait? Toss a post in the "Wanted" (Can a Jr Member post there?) section aimed at the SBCK group. You might already be getting PMs before then anyway .

hm.. depends on what you want! they are all great species. and if you know what your doing and researched, then dont hesitate!

p.s you can get a new cham as long as you promise to put pics up lol
