What would you do, if anything at all?

No, I haven't posted any pics of this cham yet. I just got him Thursday night.
The vet didn't say anything about liquid calcium. He just said to keep dusting his crickets everyday.
As for his cage, he's in a temporary cage until the new one comes that I ordered from lllreptile. Since he can't climb very well, I was going to put the cage on it's side so he'll have more room on the bottom. Because the cage is 36 long on it's side, I'll put 2 basking spots for him along with the uvb light. Possibly 2 drippers too. Right now he has a nice pothos plant that lays across the bottom & he does climb that a little. If anything at all, he has determination & will to live!
 
Are all four of his legs like that?

Those 2 legs look bad & so does his casque from that pic.

Oh yeah, looks like a male veiled due to the spur in the back foot.

Yes, they're all that bad!:( Pretty sad, isn't it?!?! I'm embarassed to admit that I work for the place that did this to him.:mad:
 
Geesh.. yah that's a pretty advanced case of MBD :(

I don't know how just dusting crickets would help him out. He's in a pretty bad state & in pain. Poor thing!

His bones need calcium bad and the fastest way I know of would be through an injection.

I think on a thread here somewhere one member said the vet prescribed him antibiotics, pain killer & liquid calcium for his cham with mbd, but I'm guessing your cham is worse than his.

I'm assuming he can't even climb anymore?

What is that thing hanging from his cloaca?

Did you bring him to a vet that has experience with treating numerous chams?

Where are you located?

If you're in SoCal you can see Dr. Greek. He's really good.

Believe it or not, he can climb a little. I was suprised myself at this. Today, he actually reached the top of the pothos pot. I was impressed. I'm telling ya, this guy has determination!
I'm not sure about the cloaca question. I noticed in the ppic as you did. I'll have to take a look at it.
The vet I used has treated my other cham in the past. How many others, I'm not sure. I had a hard enough time finding this one. Exotic vets aren't common around Chenango Forks, NY. A lot of them that do treat reptiles, don't do chams.
 
That's good that he can still climb a little. I hope he gets better.

That poor cham is in really bad shape.
I can just imagine the pain he's probably going through.

No, he has never had a calcium shot. I am doing calcium every day and a multi vitamin dusting a couple times a week. They didn't figure he would survive, he was pretty bad. It sounds like we are doing about the same things and mine is gaining strength and gained 4 grams. I would just baby him for awhile until hes stronger, then maybe more can be done to help him.
 
Coolmoon, does your cham have all 4 legs & the casque deformed?

I believe it's in their nature not to show weakness. They try to act normal.

In the wild, they can't show weakness because they'll be prey to other animals.

By the time they show it, they're usually in very bad condition already.
 
OMG, he looks just as bad as Rocky. You've said that he's gotten better, so you've given me hope. Thank you! How long have you had him?
 
They guessed he was 6 months, so he'd be 7 months now. We have had him for a month and a couple of days.
