Hey all well today I paired my panther chameleons.
It was both their first time and as you know if takes the male a while before he attempts to copulate.
Well I waited for the first coppulation so I could be sure that the female is gravid, after they did the first time I left them and went on studying for my exams.
They had been outside the whole day in the males cage.
I checked up on them once and when I came back again I found the female cruising around the back and the male perching on a branch which was strange since normaly the male is following her around, and then I noticed blood in the cage, I think it came from the male as he was not going for the female, and there was more blood around him, there was also a piece of soft flesh on under his foot like it was attached to his nail. I cant tell what it might be but I checked his vent and every thing is inside where it should be and there is not blood coming out so if it was him who was bleeding atleast he has stopped. It looks almost like a sperm plug with blood around it, I have a pic of it but cant put it up now. I then seperated them and cleaned the males cage, and checked both chams vents, the female looks fine. I held the female by the male again and he got excited about her again like nothing had happend.
They are acting normal but I am very worried and dont know what might have happend, I can organise to see a vet by Thursday or Friday but I need to basicly know what is wrong so I can tell the vet what to look out for so they can do something that will actualy help.
The male is 8 months old.
Im not sure what to do nor what happend, some help or advice will be appreciated
