what type of lighting do i really need

Ok :)

40 watt household bulb
Plain calcium without D3, (may have to order online)
Calcium with D3
Multivitamins

If anyone wants to add, feel free. It's 2am here and tired lol
 
5.0 uvb bulb
40w or 60w clear house bulb
mister
dripper
calcium without d3
calcium with d3
multivitamin
plants so she can hide
branches or vines to climb
live plant pothos, ficus, hibiscus(not a must have )
cage up off ground like 4 feet
proper size crickets small as the space between her eyes

I will vouch for it! Chameleon truely do need the lights out time, with a temperature drop. When i switched over to this method of keeping, v my chameleons became healthier, more active, developed better eating habits and were much more happy.

Its just a natural part of life, They need it just as you need food to live or air to breath.

Hopefully this helps settle your nerves, I know this is very stressful. When i first started keeping chams, i got up every 2 hours to check on my cham.
Its natural to worry, but please do whats best for your chameleon!

might I add a small suggestion to help with your supplements?
it is ALOT easier with this schedule to remember..
REPASHY all in one plus
that is the name of it, your petstore might not carry it, but you can order it online really easy, from a sponsor here.

it is very simple to use, use it daily, you don't need to switch things around. Just this one supplement everyday, and they get the additional things they need as long as your feeders are being properly gutloaded.

i did the light as yall told me to and shes just sitting on her branch and shes brown but the temp is low 80s and i raised her basking light up and shes laying directly under the humdifiyer
 
There are differant light spectrums and frequancies... from what I understand.
I did get some good advice about getting cheaper fixtures from your local Hardware store. and then you can put Reptile bulbs in them... As far as what bulbs to get. Call Light your reptile.com He is a sight sponsor and can square you away. Just tell him what you got and the size of your cage and he can answer any questions you may have.

Hi. I too recently have gotten a graceful chameleon. This is my second attempt at keeping a chameleon. I started with a senegal and I only had him
about a month and he died. He got a respiratory infection.

Anyway, all of these posts have helped me a lot. I would like to double check and see if my setup is fine. I have an all screen cage, I have a basking light but by reading all this it is too hot, so I know what to change on that. I also have a UVB 5.0 across the top, a gal jug of spring water with a small hole for a dripper, and a fogger that I keep on all the time. Humidity is ranging between 70-100%. I feed crickets dusted with reptivite no d3 and also pheonix worms but he doesnt seem interested. I guess he is eating the crickets because they are disapearing. I havnt seen him eat, I guess he is just shy. Are live plants really safe? I have been told by someone who has great success with chameleons and who works with a vet that says no live plants. I had a pothos in with my senegal but took it out because they said dont do it. You guys do use them and seem to do fine with it. It is so confusing because you see so many different opinions. I worry too about my little guy. I just want to make sure this one lives.

Is the fogger and dripper enough water? I sometimes spray around him from the top as well.

Does my set up seem fine from what I have told you? And I would like more imput about the live plants. I guess I worry about the soil the plant is in.

what i heard now im a new owner too a gracefull too
but what i heard is that chameleon cant see at night so
they go to sleep like the snap of a finger so were ever
they are upside down or were ever they are in the cage
as soon as the light go off that were they stay becouse
that cant see so the best thing what i heard of is to leave
the one light on thats the day light go out frist then have the
other light go off 30 mints after so they get set to the
same schudle every night so when they one light gose off
they know its almost time for bed and two what helps
is puting it next to the window so they can see the sun
set and they also help them to go to sleep too :)

what i heard is its good to have real and fake plants
but i heard its good to have real plants it helps with the
humidity in the tank you just need to find out witch ones
are oke and ones that are not i have fake hanging and
real on the bottom i have a money tree , bambo, and a rubber plant
what is best is to go in a store and if you have a smart phone
look up eatch plant that you think is nice go one
the internet on your phone and look up is_____plant good for a chameleon?
and then it should say one your phone :)
 
I think what I was told was the soil could cause trouble because of maybe bacteria or mold or something because of all the water/ humidity etc. But, to me the chameleons dont really climb down that low. Is that correct?

They might if they are chasing food. Just make sure that any soil is covered by large rocks.
