What to when on vacation

I'm going out of town for two weeks and I am going to have my girlfriends younger brother take care of my cham, Michael Jackson. The problem that arises is he does not drive and therefore will not be able to get live crickets (his parents are busy people and I dont want to put any of the responsibility of caring for the cham on them).

I usually only buy up to 20 crickets at a time because they tend to die off if I buy more than that.
So does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of food I should give him to feed MJ?
If I buy those boxed live crickets from petsmart and give them to him will they keep for two weeks? I have also seen those "can of crickets" but I feel like MJ is too picky to eat crickets that are not alive.

Has anyone been in this position before? Any ideas are really appreciated!

It looks like you need to start a cricket bin. All you need are some egg crates, some paper towel soaked in water, and some food. Be sure to also provide a heat mat, so they don't die out in numbers. Place about 100 crix in there and you're good to go!

Also, the crickets bought online are usually healthier.

Superworms are another option. They will live for a Very long time with almost no care required over a two week period. also Michael Jackson would likely be just find even if he just ate crickets for a few days and then went without until you got home (so long as water is available).

It sounds like the reason your crickets are dying off is because you need a larger container for them. I would try to get the next largest container and get him about 50-60 crickets. And then make sure that he cleans the food out atleast every 3 days to ensure that bacteria isn't killing the crickets.

Then just incase the crickets dont last get him a tub or 2 of super worms and have him feed them to your cham. Supers are a great option and they live a lot longer than crickets.

If you have got a reputable shop (some reptile shops board)or breeder in the area you may want to consider boarding your chameleons while your away. That way food concerns are not an issue.
