Does anyone have a list of all possible feeder insects for chameleon?
If anyone had that list, I'm afraid it would probably be a little large to post on these forums...
"Insects (Class Insecta) are a major group of arthropods and the most diverse group of animals on the Earth, with over a million described species"(Wikipedia)
So even if only 5% of all insects were edible to chameleons, you'd still be looking at a list of about 50000 insects...
However, I think what you are trying to ask for is a list of insects that are relatively easy to obtain, and practical to keep and breed.
You should start with a great book that is sold in the book store on this site:
"Thoughts for Food" - edited by Ardith Abate
What about any other roaches. Any other good ones that are simple?
Dubias (
Blaptica dubia - Orange spotted roach) are the best roach feeders. They're slow-moving, can't climb plastic/glass, don't fly. Their life-cycle is a bit longer than some roaches, and so they propogate a bit slower, but they seem relatively hardy (as most roaches are, I guess). They also have a reasonably good meat-to-shell ratio. And they seem to be readily available in the States.
Any other unique feeders?
Katydids. I can't tell you how to breed or keep them, and I don't even know how I would gutload them properly (just fresh grasses, I guess - similar to grasshoppers). But they are bright, and green, and jump around a lot: chams go crazy over them. They are also not bred/sold anywhere that I know of; you'll have to catch them in the wild.
But there you have it... a unique feeder.
