What the heck?!?

How can you tell the difference between a mealworm (Tenebrio molitor) and a Superworm (Zophobas morio) pupae to be able to identify it with 100% certainty?

I am sure there are markers but I have no idea what they are.
My mealworms one time pupated. They (obviously) are not as big and don't have the sharp "things" coming out of their sides. But I don't know if mine were normal... they all ended up dying xD

What did I just find in my dubia bin?!? This thing is sick looking! It moves when I touch it! A shedding roach gone horribly wrong?!?

It looks like something from an Alien movie... xD My supers have never pupated (I want to breed my feeders at some point though) but my mealies have before.

I assure you that this was not intentional. I'm reconsidering my options. Hmmm...How many do I need to jump start this project?? ;)

Eh buy a pack of 50 and isolate some so they turn into pupae (no water or food... in solitude). Put the beetles in their own container. They will lay eggs in the bedding but they will eat them (I think...?) at some point when they're babies, so take the beetles out. I'm not 100% sure, but you could find some good stuff on Youtube.

I have also heard of the beetles eating their own eggs. I found an interesting picture of superworm setup once, it was essentially an array of small black cups, about 1 inch, maybe 1 1/4 inch in diameter. It was probably about 10 cups by 10 cups. In some there were the worms, in some the beetles, in some pupae. I don't however remember where the eggs were kept and laid.
